Doctor of Philosophy (Food Science)

The PhD programme in Food Science is designed for qualified individuals who want to gain in-depth research and academic experiences in areas such as food quality and safety, functional food, food biotechnology, food processing and fermentation. The scientific expertise of our faculty coupled with state-of-the-art facilities offer PhD students a conducive research environment to pursue their specialization in food chemistry, food microbiology, food processing, innovation and food product development, nutrition and other food related fields of study.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements
- A Master's Degree (MQF, Level 7) in Food Science or related field accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree that are accepted by the HEP Senate
English Language Requirements
Malaysian Students:

- MUET Band 3.5 or IELTS Band 5.0; or CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 40 or equivalent
- Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English

International Students:

- IELTS Band 5.0; or CEFR High B1 or TOEFL iBT 40 or equivalent
- Exemption of English Language requirement if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English
