OUM’S Master of English Studies programme, or MEST, is an advanced degree that caters to learners seeking to deepen and widen their appreciation of English. Suitable for both English and non-English majors, and uniquely different from traditional offerings, the MEST curriculum is reflective of English as an evolving intellectual discipline offered in progressive universities across the globe. Entry Requirements
i. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in the field1 or related fields2 with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by HEP Senate; or
ii. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in the field or related fields or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.
iii. Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or working experience in the relevant fields3 must;

i. meet the minimum CGPA based on (i) to (ii);
ii. achieve at least IELTS Band 64 (or its equivalent); AND
iii. undergo two prerequisite courses (Introduction to Linguistics; English Across Time and Space).

APEL Entry
• Malaysian; AND
• The candidate should be more than 30 years of age in the year of application; AND
• Relevant work experience / prior experiential learning; AND
• Pass the APEL Assessment (Aptitude Test, Portfolio & Interview) conducted by OUM; AND
• Possess the following qualification:
- STPM / Recognised Diploma; Or
- Matriculation / Foundation (credit score 50-52 credits; GPA grade 2.00 and above; minimum study period of one year); Or
- A-Level (minimum of 3 courses; minimum grade E;duration of study at least 18 months); Or
- International Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum of 6 courses and 3 required elements; minimum grade of 24 points and above; duration of study at least 2 years).
