Short summary of the research area:
Research in the Ryan Institute at NUI Galway can be carried out through separate discipline pathways (mainly but not exclusively Physics, Botany, Zoology and Earth and Ocean Sciences). The Ryan Institute pathway covers topics more strongly associated with the cross discipline and cross-College Ryan Institute or with staff not assigned to a discipline.
The primary areas of research interest are currently with the biodiversity and bioresources cluster, particularly:-
- Environmental Management & Conservation. Marine conservation, sustainable harvesting planning and management
- Biodiversity: Patterns & Processes. Species distributions, marine population dynamics, community structure
- Aquaculture, Biotechnology, & Biodiscovery. Research to support biodiscovery and aquaculture
