Le Cordon Bleu 130th Anniversary Celebration & Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series Featuring Prof. Hervé This

In celebration of Le Cordon Bleu’s 130th Anniversary, Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia, together with Sunway Education Group, hosted a prestigious event under the Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series, featuring Professor Hervé This, the co-founder of Molecular Gastronomy.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Prof. Hervé This as our distinguished guest speaker, where he delivered an insightful talk on “Molecular and Physical Gastronomy: Key to Culinary Innovation.” His session explored the intersection of science and gastronomy, revealing how understanding molecular reactions can unlock new creative possibilities in the kitchen. During his visit to Malaysia, Prof. Hervé This also conducted several workshops at Petrosains, Alliance Française, and for young students from Lycée Français Kuala Lumpur, as well as a special masterclass for industry chefs and Le Cordon Bleu alumni. It was a true privilege for Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia to host him as part of this distinguished series and commemorate our milestone anniversary with such an inspiring figure.

The celebration drew an impressive turnout of around 400 guests, filling the hall with alumni, students, industry professionals, and distinguished figures from the culinary and education communities. The ceremony was graced by Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah, Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, , Mr. Charles Cointreau, Professor Pradeep Nair, Ms. Ming Ho, and Chef Stéphane Frelon, alongside Professor Hervé This, who captivated the audience with his passion for innovation and culinary science.

The evening concluded with a birthday cake-cutting ceremony, featuring a specially crafted cake by Sunway Hotel, symbolising 130 years of culinary excellence and innovation.

We were also proud to have 10 of our accomplished alumni present to showcase their talents and contribute to the refreshments for our distinguished guests. Among them were Liang (Red Red Botak Head), Brendon Chen (Cezanne), Kini (Tiny Café), Daniel & Woon Ming (Vagabond), Ann Lee (Être), Janice Siew (Petitesérie), Joyce Sit (Sourdou.m), Dato’ Fazley Yaakob (Suka Sucre), Datin Su (FunFare), who also sponsored her signature toffee candy, and Freya (Le Petit Paris), who prepared the delightful pineapple tart doorgifts.

At Le Cordon Bleu, we believe that the success of our school is reflected in the success of our alumni. Their presence at this milestone celebration is a testament to our enduring legacy, uniting tradition, innovation, and a shared passion for culinary excellence.

As we continue to inspire future generations of chefs, our philosophy remains true: Le Cordon Bleu – Globally Inspired, Locally Perfected.
