PROF IR DR LEE SZE WEI APPOINTED AS NEW TAR UC PRESIDENT
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (‘TAR UC’) would like to announce Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei as the new TAR UC President effective from 1 September 2018.

Noted as an outstanding scholar, Prof Ir Dr Lee obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronic and Optoelectronic Engineering with First-Class Honours at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (‘UMIST’), UK in 1994. He subsequently pursued both Masters of Philosophy and PhD in Digital Communications at UMIST in 1995 and 1998 respectively. Prof Ir Dr Lee also received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Salford, UK in 1999. He joined Multimedia University as Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering in 1999 and rose to become the Dean of the said Faculty. In 2008, he joined Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (‘UTAR’) as Professor at the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science and subsequently the Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research. In 2009, Prof Ir Dr Lee was appointed as the Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation until 2018 prior to his appointment as TAR UC President. In his role as the Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation, he was instrumental in formulating strategy, policy and framework for R&D and commercialisation to grow in UTAR which resulted in UTAR being ranked the second highest among Malaysian universities that had successfully made it into the Asia Universities Ranking 2017 by Times Higher Education.
In total, Prof Ir Dr Lee has 19 years of working experience in the education industry. Apart from this, he is also active in his other academic pursuits serving as the Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Fellow of The ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Fellow of Malaysia Board of Technologists, as well as Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, Member of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia, Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. TAR UC extends its warm welcome to Prof Ir Dr Lee and looks forward to his leadership to drive TAR UC growing from strength to strength.
