As an institution of higher learning that has built a solid reputation in the provision of excellent professional business and finance education, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (‘TAR UC’) is very much recognised in educating and training future business leaders with many of its graduates being the Chief Financial Officers, accountants and corporate professionals in Malaysia. This is due to intensive and rigorous academic standards of its business and finance programmes which are accredited and accorded the highest recognition by global professional bodies.   Offered and conducted by the Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business (‘FAFB’), TAR UC’s accountancy and business programmes are structured in such a way that they provide an accelerated pathway for students to not only gain TAR UC’s Bachelor’s degree but acquire globally recognised professional qualification in the relevant areas from global professional bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (‘ACCA’), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (‘CIMA’), The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (‘ICAEW’), CPA Australia, The Chartered Institute of Marketing (‘CIM’) and Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (‘FPAM’).   ACCA being a globally recognised accounting body has given its highest exemption to a number of TAR UC accounting programmes namely the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) which are offered at TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur Main Campus as well as the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance offered at TAR UC’s Penang Branch Campus. TAR UC’s Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) students will be given exemption from Papers F1 to F9 of the ACCA Fundamentals upon successful completion of their Year 2 studies and final year students are prepared to sit for the final 4 ACCA Professional Level papers’ examinations. Students who graduate from TAR UC’s Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) and Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance programmes will be exempted from all 9 papers of the ACCA fundamentals. In addition to this, final year students of the Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme are given the opportunity to attempt the ACCA Professional Level papers under special arrangement with ACCA.   Apart from this, TAR UC is the only institution in the world approved by ACCA to conduct the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals (Skills Module) programme for all 9 modules of the ACCA Fundamentals. The Internally Assessed programme is included in the 3-year Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) programme. Another point worth highlighting is the fact that TAR UC is also ACCA’s Platinum Approved Learning Partner, which places the University College among the world’s top 5% of ACCA tuition providers.   In terms of accreditation by CIMA, TAR UC’s Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) students are granted the maximum exemption from CIMA, which means students are exempted from 11 out of 16 papers of CIMA. On top of this, opportunities are also given to the final year students of the Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme to attempt the CIMA Management Case Study and Strategic Level papers under special arrangement with CIMA. On top of this, TAR UC has been recognised as a CIMA’s Global Learning Premium Partner.   Apart from this, TAR UC’s Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme is also accredited by ICAEW where graduates of this programme will be granted exemptions for 8 out of the 15 papers of the ACA examination. Furthermore, TAR UC’s graduates from the Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) and Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance programmes, which are accredited by CPA Australia, are exempted from all 6 CPA Foundation Exams out of a total of 12 professional papers.   As for accreditation by ICSA, TAR UC students who have graduated with the Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) will be exempted from 12 out of 16 papers of the ICSA examination. In addition to this, final year students of the Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) are also given the opportunity to attempt the IQS Part II under special arrangement with The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (‘MAICSA’).   The latest professional body to grant accreditation to TAR UC is CIM where TAR UC is the first and only Graduate Gateway University in Malaysia. This recognition paves the way for TAR UC students to be given exemption on Accreditation of Prior Learning (‘APL’) basis from one out of three modules of CIM’s Diploma in Professional Marketing. TAR UC students who are pursuing their 3rd year of the Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing will be prepared to sit for the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing examinations. Upon passing the CIM examination with relevant work experience, graduates from TAR UC are eligible to apply for the Associate Membership of CIM.   TAR UC’s banking, finance and investment programmes have also received accreditation from FPAM. In particular, graduates of the Bachelor of Finance and Investment (Hons) as well as Bachelor of Banking and Finance (Hons) are exempted from Module 3 Investment Planning and Retirement Planning of the Certified Financial Planner (‘CFP’) certification programme.   For more information, please visit our website at www.tarc.edu.my.
